General information
When a website is accessed, data is transferred between the visitor’s browser and the web server for technical reasons. We do not use our hosting and server logs to create our own visitor profiles.
In addition to hosting and maps, Google advertising code may load on designated pages. Where consent messaging is enabled, we use Google CMP. The associated data processing and your choices are described below.
Hosting and server logs
This website is delivered through Cloudflare. The provider is Cloudflare, Inc., 101 Townsend St., San Francisco, CA 94107, USA.
Technically necessary access data may be processed when the website is accessed. This includes, in particular, the IP address, date and time of access, the page requested, the amount of data transferred, browser and operating system information, and referrer information where provided by the browser.
Cloudflare also processes technical data to deliver and secure the website. This may include IP addresses, traffic-routing data, system configurations, and information about traffic to and from this website.
This processing is necessary to deliver the website, ensure its technical stability, and investigate misuse or attacks. The legal basis is Article 6(1)(f) GDPR. Our legitimate interest is the secure and reliable operation of the website.
We do not maintain our own web analytics logs. Technically necessary log and security data is processed only for as long as required for delivery, security, error analysis and protection against misuse, or where statutory obligations apply.
Cookies and web analytics
This information portal does not embed its own web analytics tools such as Google Analytics or additional social-media tracking tools. This is distinct from the measurement of ad impressions and interactions by Google AdSense.
When you make a choice in the consent window, Google CMP stores your decision in the browser so that it can be respected on later visits to this website. The Google services described below may use cookies and similar storage technologies. You can review and change the advertising purposes and providers you allow in the consent window when it is displayed.

Google AdSense and consent management
We use Google AdSense to help fund the information portal. Advertising code is integrated only on designated pages. Ad delivery and consent messaging may be disabled for this website. In that case, we ask visitors in the European Economic Area (EEA), the United Kingdom and Switzerland for their advertising choices and respect any choice already saved. Google’s privacy policy identifies Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland, as the relevant controller for users habitually resident in the European Economic Area or Switzerland. For users habitually resident in the United Kingdom, Google identifies Google LLC, 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA.
Data that may be processed
Connections to Google may involve processing your IP address, the address of the page visited, browser and device information, and the time and technical details of the request. Consent management also processes your choices about purposes and providers. Where advertising is permitted, cookie identifiers and information about ad impressions and interactions may also be processed. The purposes are to manage your choices and, where permitted, to select, deliver and measure advertising and protect against misuse. Personalisation takes place only where the necessary consents have been given.
Your browser may connect to Google while advertising code is loading on a designated page, before you have made a choice and even when no ads are displayed. Existing cookies on Google domains may also be read. Blocking ad requests therefore does not mean that no data is sent to Google before your choice. According to Google’s documentation, data associated with those existing cookies is not used for ad delivery or measurement while ad requests are blocked.
Your choices and withdrawal
The consent window lets you consent, decline or manage individual options. Ad requests are enabled only when the permissions needed to display the ad are present. If you decline all advertising consent, this portal does not request or display ads. You can continue using the portal’s information.
If you do not allow personalisation but the necessary permissions for non-personalised advertising are present, non-personalised ads may appear. These ads may also use cookies, for example to limit repeated ads and provide aggregated ad reporting. Declining personalisation alone therefore does not mean declining all advertising-related processing.
When a consent window is available to you on this website, you can change your choices and withdraw consent with effect for the future through Privacy and cookie settings. This entry point is also available in the footer and takes you to this website’s homepage, where you can reopen the consent window. Google may also provide a consent window when no individual message has been configured for this website. Withdrawing all advertising consent stops further ad requests and the display of advertising. Withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of processing before it took place. Deleting browser data or using another browser may require you to make your choice again.
Legal bases and further information
Where the processing of personal data for advertising requires your consent, the legal basis is Article 6(1)(a) GDPR. Storage of or access to information on your device that requires consent is based on Section 25(1) of Germany’s Telecommunications and Digital Services Data Protection Act (TDDDG). Managing and documenting your consent decision serves our obligations under Article 7 GDPR. The exception in Section 25(2)(2) TDDDG applies only to storage or access that is strictly necessary to provide a digital service you have explicitly requested.
You can inspect the individual providers, purposes and their privacy notices in the consent window. Details of Google’s processing and data retention are available in Google’s privacy policy and its information on data from websites and apps that use Google services. These notices do not replace your choices on this portal.
Interactive maps using OpenStreetMap
Where this portal displays an interactive map, we use the Leaflet JavaScript library, which is delivered locally from our server. The map tiles themselves are provided by the OpenStreetMap Foundation, St John’s Innovation Centre, Cowley Road, Cambridge, CB4 0WS, United Kingdom (OSMF).
When you access a page containing an interactive map, your browser connects directly to OSMF servers or its content-delivery network. In particular, your IP address, browser and device type, operating system, referring page, date and time, and the map tiles requested may be processed. OSMF processes this data as an independent controller; we have no access to the resulting usage data and no control over its further processing.
The map is embedded to provide immediately usable geographical orientation for the relevant cemetery. The legal basis is Article 6(1)(f) GDPR. Our legitimate interest is the clear and user-friendly presentation of location-related information.
OSMF states that connections may be made to servers in the United Kingdom and other countries. Further information is available in the OpenStreetMap Foundation privacy policy.
Contact by email
If you contact us by email, we process the information you provide, particularly your email address, the content of your message and the technical metadata associated with the email.
The processing is carried out to respond to your enquiry. The legal basis is Article 6(1)(b) GDPR where the enquiry concerns a contract or pre-contractual measures. In all other cases, the legal basis is Article 6(1)(f) GDPR. Our legitimate interest is responding to enquiries.
We retain this data only for as long as necessary to process the enquiry or where statutory retention obligations apply.
Recipients and international data transfers
Personal data is sent to the relevant recipients to operate the website, respond to enquiries and comply with legal obligations, and for the consent management described above and any advertising use you permit.
We use Cloudflare to deliver and secure the website. In this context, Cloudflare processes personal data as a processor acting on our instructions. When a page containing an interactive map is accessed, OSMF also receives the technically necessary map requests as an independent controller.
Because Cloudflare is based in the United States, personal data may also be processed outside the European Union or European Economic Area. According to Cloudflare, such transfers are based, among other safeguards, on the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework and the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses.
Under its terms, Google processes data for AdSense and its consent management as an independent controller. Any additional advertising providers are identified in the consent window.
Google may also process data outside the European Union or European Economic Area, particularly in the United States. Google describes safeguards including the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework and, where required, Standard Contractual Clauses. Details and ways to obtain information about the safeguards are available in Google’s legal frameworks for data transfers.
Your rights
Under the General Data Protection Regulation, you have the right to access, rectify and erase your personal data, restrict its processing, receive data in a portable format, and object to certain processing activities.
Where processing is based on consent, you may withdraw that consent at any time with effect for the future.
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority. The competent supervisory authority is the Bavarian State Office for Data Protection Supervision (Bayerisches Landesamt für Datenschutzaufsicht, BayLDA), Promenade 18, 91522 Ansbach, Germany.
Security
We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to operate this website as securely as possible. Production delivery through Cloudflare uses encrypted HTTPS connections.
